I had several old photographs to choose from when I was planning this drawing. I wanted to do a close up of the face, but I also wanted to do the full figure of the soldier. I combined the two in the end and was pleased with the result.
Here is the first portrait I finished and framed. It is of my grandfather, Cecil H. Speck, and was drawn as a Christmas gift for my grandmother. Some years later, I did a matching portrait of my grandmother, Elois K. Speck.
Greetings! This is the first post on my new blog. I do fine portraits in graphite and colored pencil, and also do decorative painting and jewelry design. I hope soon to start doing my portraits in watercolor and oil. I hope I can create something very special to showcase my work.
